havent seen an alligator at the apatments yet, but I did see a black snake today
we're on the second floor
Some of you may be wondering where we will be off to next. Well, so am I!!! I will be done here in just 2 1/2 weeks and have no job lined up after that. The state of the economy is actually affecting nursing, well travel nursing, can you believe that? Hospitals are not wanting to risk hiring travel nurses if they really do not need them. Hospitals are only posting jobs for us 1-2 weeks before their desired start dates. This is a problem because a lot of nursing licenses take at least a month to obtain! Also, I do not want to settle and just go to any random place. If I did that, what would be the point? So I am having to set my sights on walk-through states. These are states where I can go there and obtain my nurse's license in just one day when done in person. However, another problem is that if a hospital (in one of these walk-through states) has 2 positions open, they do not want to take a chance and hire a person that does not already have their license- even though these are easy to obtain. So... we shall see, whatever happens, happens right? I may end up back in California after all- there are tons of jobs available there and I already have my nursing license. Places that we are considering... TN, SC, NC, VT, DE, ME, CO, AK, CA, and HI.
Other things: I am getting really sick of the 27 stoplights from my apartment to where I work. I hate that wherever I want to go down here, requires me to drive on US 1 for at least 8 miles or so (8 miles equals about 20 minutes). I also hate that surfing is so inaccessible to beginners out here. No one rents foam boards or soft-tops. The board shops are so far away from the beaches. I came here because I wanted to continue my surfing... but it has just not worked out- I will make it out again though- hopefully 2 more times before I leave.
I do however, love all of the water here! I love highway A1A, it goes right down the coast. I love to go snorkeling and will hopefully go again. I am happy to have made a friend here. Her and her husband are one of the good points here. Also, I love manatees- even though I do not see many...I also like volunteering at the sea turtle place. Is it crazy to let the traffic make you dislike a place when it has other good points? I mean I did not even hate the traffic this much in LA- it was expected there.
Anyways, that is the end of my ranting, please cross your fingers that I get a job soon (and in a desirable place). I may end up back in MI before I know it...
