There are no volunteer opportunities for us yet... so we took to the beach. Kevin and I tried to go to Orange Beach. It is on a barrier island about 30 minutes away in Alabama. We did not make it there though because we took a wrong turn somewhere. We ended up trying to find a beach at the naval base.
There have been multiple times in Cali that I have accidentally ended up at the gate of one or more of the armed force's bases. They quickly turned me around and got me out of there. So, I was surprised that we were allowed on the base. There is actually a fort, lighthouse, and museum there.
While we were trying to find a place to get down by the water, we ended up at the fort. Fort Barrancas was actually pretty cool. We got to walk around in the fort's tunnels. The fort was originally Spanish and from the 1700s.
Eventually we made it down the beach, after avoiding many red signs that said if we went that way we would go to jail. The beach was nice, and booms had already been placed. It was very quiet though. I did get a nice wildlife picture too.
