victory is mine!

this is how the tree line looks along the freeway!

walking along the riverbank

Today I was finally successful in getting pictures of the beautiful colors along the Patuxent River. About a few days ago, the colors hit their peak. I frequently pass over this river on MD 29... but had not been able to get a picture of it. It is really beautiful from the freeway. Here is a picture from my car window.

Anyways, Garmin and I went on a little adventure to find a place along the river to take pictures. I am a little shocked to say (most of you know my love/hate relationship with the GPS)... together we succeeded. I ended up going down a boat ramp (not in my car) and then walking along the riverbank a little bit. The colors did not seem as brilliant as they do from the highway, but it was a beautiful spot nontheless. It was nice to have a little nature time. I do think that fall is more colorful here, and I think it is because there are more deciduous trees here than coniferous (pine trees) ones. Let me know what you think David!
There are a few parks around here that are supposed to have great hiking, even some waterfalls, and I would like to go in the next few weeks (maybe I can get more pictures).

I'm imagining that's what the New World looked like when the Europeans arrived. But I don't think the natives' canoes were that colorful.

ha! and if we were taking an old time photo there... you would be the native!
