If you guys didn't know, Kraig has been hoping to get a job in Edmonton, Canada working on the pipeline there. He would be working about 30 miles south of where the Ice Road Truckers drive. Isn't that crazy?!? I am not interested in being that cold. Well, when he does get to, it will be a really great job for him. It actually sounds pretty cool, minus the cold, and I will go and visit him in the spring. However, they have not called him up yet, so today I worked on finding a job for myself. I actually interviewed with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD today and was offered a job!
I am actually pretty excited because this place is a pretty big deal. Everything there is centered on the newest research for some of the rarest diseases. I will be working on the cardiac and infectious disease telemetry floor. It should be different than anything I have done yet. I am also really interested in research. I even was a reasearch assistant for a couple of microbiology professors while I was in college at Grand Valley. So, I am excited to see a little bit of that side of nursing. I also get to go back to Maryland, and this time, I am closer to Washington DC. Come and visit!
Today I also found out that my kitten (now named Baxter for his incessant meowing) will officially be our cat. We did find out that our neighbors had been taking care of him for about a month but that he escaped while they were on vacation- and thats when he came into our lives. Well, they have about 9 stray cats that they have taken in so they really wanted us to take this one. Three flea baths later and we are attached to the little guy, so we accepted.
Some things about him...
- He meows all the time!
- He hobbles around on his left front foot when he is not playing, he is currently wearing a splint.
- He is very good at pouncing and loves playing. He likes to do somersaults when he is chasing after his toys.
- He has a very loud purrer! We should have called him "hemi," because you definitely know when he is happy.
- He always wants to eat and lets you hear about it.
- When we first met him, he liked to climb around on our shoulders, now he tries to climb up trees, the furniture, our legs, and anything else.
- He loves licking fingers and drinking water out of my glass!
- He likes to sleep on both Kraig and my head or under our chin or sprawled out across our chests. He is a very loving boy! Welcome to the family Baxter!
