Emilie and I with the elusive golf cart...We had a great week of camp this year! It was a little sad at first because there were so few kids- but the kids that we had were great ones! I was the official camp nurse this year.. so I had all the power :) just kidding. This was also my first year staying in the lodge and not in the cabins with the kids. I was nervous being the official nurse but everything turned out well. Just a few bug bites and few shots.. no casualties.
The week was really fun. I love hanging out with my fellow staff members and counselors. We love the kids, sure... but we love being crazy around each other for a week too! This year Emilie and I commandeered a Camp Mack golf cart. We drove it around our camp a little. The kids thought we stole it.. but we just begged and begged until someone let us take theirs for a spin! Thanks to that nice lady.
Other highlights of the week were casino night... where I definitely took all of the kids poker chips dealing black jack (why cant I win like that when I go to the casino)? The next night we had a counselor hunt where I climbed and hid in a giant pine tree! I have never climbed a tree like that. Thank goodness Foz wasn't too scared to help me get out of it. When he was looking for me I really freaked him out... he said it was like I was in a horror movie. We made popcorn over the campfire again this year and got to watch Elf on movie night. I love that movie! There was also another water carnival on Wednesday with the staff versus the campers. We had lots of good campfires and made some snazzy crafts.
Another highlight was making coasters to sell to the sorority ladies. I am glad that they thought they were funny! stuff like "my hip goes out more than I do," "prune on the rocks," and "I love Bob Barker." We had so much fun making them.. but sssh, we told them that the kids made them.
Anyways, it was a great week.. and hopefully next year we will have camp in July and more kids will come! The more the merrier...
