Orioles - Yankees game

Today, Kraig and I met up with some new friends to go to the Orioles vs. Yankees game in Baltimore. Karla and Brian are two married traveling nurses that work on my floor, and they invited us along. Since, my only experience at a major league baseball game to date was half of a Cubs game- I happily accepted. Baseball is the national pasttime and all. Camden Park is the field where the Orioles play. It is an older field and has still held on to its charm and its character. The tickets are fairly priced for the average person too! Now, Kraig and I are not much of sports fans but we ended up having a great time. The couple that we went with was really nice and were definitely good company. All of the seats in the stadium had a great view. We were seated in the upper deck just beneath the awnings, and we good see everything.
Prior to the start of the game, Kraig and I got some food at the tailgating area outside of the park. Then we all went inside. The stadium was so big! There were plenty of Yankees fans and Orioles fans taunting each other -which always seems to make for great entertainment to me. Before getting to the game, I had decided that I wanted a giant foam finger but that $5 was my limit. They turned out to be $9. I resisted purchasing one for about 5 minutes, but then the lure of the foam finger was too great! Ha! I bought one, and I love it. Now that I have invested in the finger, I have bestowed my baseball allegiance to Baltimore. I mean I have to make the investment worthwhile! The game was fun, and I learned some facts and tidbits about the players and how the game itself is played. Kraig and I spent the beginning of the game sipping on some of his dad's homemade wine that we brought into the stadium in juice bottles.
A replay of the actual game- Alex Rodriguez hit a home run on his first bat which brought the score to 3-0 with the Yankees leading in the first inning. No matter, I love to cheer for the underdog and I wove my foam finger, shouted Charge, and clapped along with rest of the Orioles fans. We left in the middle of the eigth inning and watched one of the Orioles batters almost hit the ball out of the park. However, the Yankees ended up winning 4-0.
It turned out to be a really fun time, and I decided that I could stand becoming a baseball fan. 1. I like how the field is mowed, it is pretty. 2. practically everyone is drinking there 3. they have great (but expensive) food 4. everyone is yelling at the players or each other (even 6 year old little boys) 5. everyone dresses up for their favorite team 6. i like watching where the foul balls land, and 7. you can zone out for 3 innings or so- then start paying attention to the game again and find out that you haven't missed anything!
All in all, we had a great time. It was a fun day at the ballpark.
