Port Salerno

Today we went to the 3rd annual Port Salerno seafoood festival. Port Salerno is a commercial fishing town and this festival is in honoor of that tradition. It was very busy.. and I kept getting cut in front of by pushy old people! There was no lobster but I did try shark. It tasted a little like chicken. I also felt bad for eating shark... I mean this shark was obviously not endangered otherwise it could not be hunted, but still sharks are apex predators and by that definition there are fewer of them in the first place. However, I tried it anyways- and now I can say that I have eaten shark. Kraig ate the fried shark and also some steamed crabs. Some lady at the festival taught us that the male crabs are the better ones to eat because their meat is sweeter. I'm filing that away as information that may come in handy someday. Anyways at the festival you had to buy food tickets- like at the Venetian festival back home. We hate that! Oh well, we spent our last ticket on corn on the cob... and even though this was a seafood festival- we both agree that it was the best thing that we had eaten! Oh well... it was still something to do, and I like to go and do the things that the area has to offer. I also got some information about volunteering at the oceanographic institute.
After that, we checked out a nautical gift store and a surf shop- I am on the hunt for a wet suit!
