It was 103 degrees outside, the corn dogs were cooking and the weiner dogs were racing at the Nevada state fair.
We had a pretty fun day walking around the livestock pens, exhibits, and the carnival. We also feasted on some great, greasy fair food. I have never been to a state fair before, but Kraig says that this one was really small. The Berrien County Youth Fair is at least twice the size of this fair!
However, we mainly went to see the 6th annual Nevada state championship weiner dog races. If you didn't know, I really want a weiner dog once we move back home.. so we went to watch them today! It was great! There were so many cute (big and little) weiner dogs running around! They even had a lady sing the national anthem with her weiner dog, "Gus." There were 126 dogs entered in the races. There were about 16 heats of races- then the finals and semi-finals! Most of the dogs would run sideways, not leave the starting line, or would almost make it to the finish line and then run back the wrong way! I was rooting for "Holly Hotdog," but "Skinner" was victorious in the end. I thought that it was really cute... and definitely not something that you see every day!
