Meet Me at the Muny

Today Kraig and I spent the evening in Forest Park. Forest Park is St. Louis's version of Central Park. It is a huge outdoor space with trails, ponds, museums, fountains, and more. We enjoyed a picnic in the park before we went to see a musical performed in the Park's outdoor theater.

For our picnic, I made white chocolate macadamia nut cookies (yes, I baked) and some really tasty salsa. All in all, we had chips and salsa, potato salad, sushi for Kraig, cherry wine (from the bottle) and cookies. It was really fun, and we got to use our picnic basket. 

After eating, we went into The Muny (which is the outdoor theater). In the summer, if you are one of the first 1500 people to get to the show, you can get in for free. The free seats are the furthest ones away from the stage, but we like free, so, that's what we did. We saw the musical, Damn Yankees, and our seats were really not that bad- even me with my poor eyesight, I could enjoy the show without binoculars. We did have binoculars though just in case.

We both enjoyed the play, especially getting to watch it outside. It was really fun, and it would have been even more fun if while waiting for the show to start it had not been 100 degrees!! Once the sun went down (it was still hot), the temperature became more bearable. Also, it was kind of cool to watch the moths and the lightning bugs fly around in the spotlight. :)

We really enjoyed the evening and plan to see another show before the summer is over!
