our journey to Seattle

We left Thursday around 3:00 pm after having a wonderful lunch at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. This is the oldest Big Boy around and was featured on the Travel Channel! We left and then traveled north. We stopped in San Luis Obispo, CA to check it out because that is where we might go on the next assignment. It is a little beachy, surfing town about 3 hours north of LA. While we were there we had Captain Crunch flavored milkshakes! Yah.. you heard that right. They were awesome! They even had some tint, little, crunchy pieces of cereal in it! That night we stayes in Fremont, CA.
The next day we ate at Denny's and then headed up through the Redwood forest. It was really,really, cool. The trees are so big and so tall! We drove through the "Chandelier Drive-thru tree." My car could make it, but Kraig's truck could not. Then we drove down the Avenue of the Giants. It is a scenic route that winds right through the giant trees. The trees are so tall, that there is not much growing on the forest floor because it does not get enough light. It's easy to walk around because all you have to do is navigate the trees and not much else. On a more serious note, I am pretty positive that if Bigfoot lives anywhere- it is in those redwood forests! He's in there somewhere hiding in the mist! We also saw a herd of elk!

Also, along the way we found this town which was the birthplace of Charles Schwarz- the creator of Snoopy! They had a museum there and bunches of Snoopy statues. We just happened to stop there otherwise we would have never known about it! We definitely plan to go back and spend the day after this contract is over.

There were other times when you would be driving through the dense forest and all of a sudden you would drive out onto this spectacular ocean view. There were all of these jagged rocks out in the water, mountains in the background, and those mountains were covered with thick forests! It was the most beautiful oceanview that I have ever seen! Also, the eel river winds through the forest, and it was so perfectly blue! I have never seen a bluer river!

We stopped in Crescent City, CA for dinner and we eventually stopped for the night a little ways into Oregon. The next day we drove to seattle!

Our apartment is pretty awesome. You can see Puget Sound when you hang your head out of our balcony. We are also 2 blocks away from the Space Needle. It seems really cool here- the only bad thing is that it is currently colder here than it is in MI!!! So far we have not been rained on too much!
