Today I finished up the rest of my pre-employment stuff at St. Anthony's Medical Center. I will start orientation bright and early Monday morning. :( I just hope that I do not fall asleep. My body does not do well with orientations. They are too early and too boring. I always fall asleep...
After that, I went downtown in search of a postcard to send my NIH friends. I can't have them forgetting me! I can't believe that I had to go all the way to Union Station to get a postcard. I mean.. cmon, the Niles Walgreens sells Niles postcards, you would think the ones here would sell St. Louis ones.
Since I was at Union Station, I took the time to check out Mille's Fountain which is across the street. It is a pretty cool fountain with bronze statues of fish, sharks, and mermaids all spouting water to the heavens. The fountain is supposed to symbolize the merging of the two great rivers- the Missouri and the Mississippi (which happens about 30 minutes north of St. Louis). It was dedicated in 1940 and is now called the Wedding of the Waters.
