out and about in the Lou
Today I met up with Heather and her boyfriend, Kevin for lunch. We met on "The Hill," which is the Italian section of town, and at a restaurant called Milo's. Our food was good. I got to try a St. Louis original and local favorite- toasted taviolis (or T-ravs if you aren't a tourist). Oh my goodness they were delicious! It was such a nice day that we got to eat outside and eat on their patio. I love eating outside. It makes me think of San Diego!
After lunch, they took me on a driving tour of the entire city. Kevin grew up in St. Louis so he is very good at getting around it. They showed me all of the different neighborhoods and pointed out cool restaurants or things to do along the way. I also learned that their are tons of free festivals/concerts in the summer. I think this may turn out to be a pretty fun place to be for the summer!
Once we got to the French neighborhood (Soulard), we stopped at a restaurant called McGurks. It is the hot spot of the neighborhood and it was voted St. Louis' #1 patio. So we checked out the patio and had some more local favorites- Budweisers that is. I mean the brewery is right down the road!
Afterwards, we drove around a little bit more and then made our last stop at Ted Drewe's frozen custard. It is a Route 66 landmark and has been there since 1929. I had a mini concrete which is like a small DQ Blizzard. It was very good too! It was a very fun day.
