This morning was my going away party at the NIH. The party officially started last evening with some fantastic cake and saying goodbye to the evening shifters.
This morning, it was announced over the loud speaker for me to head into the south side's break room. I walked into a room filled with breakfast food as far as the eye can see, a griddle station, and about 30 people packed in like sardines! They cheered for me and I said.. "oh my goodness, this is the biggest party that I have ever seen!"
They just laughed. They said that it was the biggest and most successful party that they had ever thrown and that they would give me an even bigger party when I come back! Ha! They are very sneaky aren't they?
Well, it was a really nice party. I was very touched by everyone's generosity, support, and efforts to change my mind to stay working with them longer! I feel like I was really given the royal treatment. My bosses pretty much said that I could come back at any time, and I guess might have even considered me for a permanent position. I am always sad when I leave a job- but I have never been this sad before. I made a lot of good friends here and had a lot of fun while I was working. That doesn't happen very often! Goodbye NIH! I will miss you very, very much.
