Old Town Alexandria

downtown shops and restaurants
the Trolley!
Old Town Alexandria outside of the courthouse

Today my mom and I took the Metro through Washington DC and into Virginia. Once we got off the Metro, we hopped onto a trolley which took us into the heart of Old Town Alexandria. It was a really neat area with plenty of shops and restaurants. There was even a giant building with many art galleries that used to be a torpedo factory!
We did not buy too many things, but we had fun looking. I tried to buy my cat some gourmet cat treats, but as always, the pet store mostly catered to dogs. The nerve, I say! Anyways, we both bought some Christmas ornaments, and I bought some Virginia peanuts and "barnacles" (which are peanuts with crab seasoning) to send home to my dad and Kraig.
We ate in a little Italian restaurant on one of the corners and enjoyed the day together! Oh! and my mom finally got some Dunkin Donuts. Needless to say, she was very happy with how the day ended. :)
