Well, I made my way back to Maryland today- this time to work in Bethesda at the National Institutes of Health. I am north of Washington DC and much closer this time. I could actually take the Metro to work! Baxter and I made the 9.5 hour drive. He was a trooper for the most part! I did have second thoughts the first 2 hours about bringing him though... lots of little baby crying and meowing.. I thought I would go insane. Once he settled down, he spent a good portion of the trip sleeping in his little carrier tent. We stopped at rest stops in both Ohio and Pennsylvania where he got to get out and stretch his legs. I am not sure he really knew what to make of the whole thing... but he did use the litter box in PA.. and he did also try to climb a tree there too. He can get pretty rambunctious, and now he is a traveler too! I kept him on a leash though and everything was fine! He was a cute little companion and slept in my lap for the Maryland portion of the trip.
This apartment is much nicer than the last one.. it has a nice pool.. too bad it is closed for the season! Oh, another plus- my apartment is really close to the clubhouse.. so I can steal their wireless! score! no more dial-up for me. They also have recycling collection centers at the apartment complex. That is always convenient and appreciated.
When I pulled into the apartment, a bunch of little girls swarmed me and my cat. They fed and petted him. They liked him and wanted to play with him so much that they helped me unpack my entire car and bring it into my apartment. Now that's a welcoming committee! They are very sweet girls- but I like my alone time.. and they keep coming over! I'm not sure what to do about that...
