What a great day! We drove down to Chesapeake, VA yesterday evening. I had to come all the way down here (3.5 hours south) to get ACLS recertified for my job. ACLS= advanced cardiac life support. Anyways, I could not find any class closer that was do-able with my work schedule. So to Virgina we went. It has been a nice little trip so far. Yesterday we visited Virginia Beach- another beach/resort town on the Atlantic Ocean. I has tons of junk and souvenir shops all along its main drag. The boardwalk is really long and all built up with fancy hotels. the beach was really nice and clean. There were lots of vendor carts all along the boardwalk. They even had a gian statue of Neptune which was pretty cool. We walked around a little bit, stuck our toes in the water, and scoped out the surfing possibilities before heading back to our hotel. I actually think the surf would have been pretty good for us, but there wasn't any time.
Today I had to get up early and spend all day taking my ACLS test. I passed- so that's good. Once I was finished with the test, Kraig and I went back to Virginia Beach. We walked around a little more on a different part of the boardwalk and then Kraig and I parted ways. I went and played in the ocean while Kraig went for a jog down the beach. I wasn't able to go surfing because there were not really and surfboard rental places- so I went body surfing and wave jumping instead! I love jumping and getting knocked over by the waves. I used my wave judgement skills that I have gotten from surfing to help me find the perfect bodysurfing opportunities. It was fun: I have missed the ocean.
Once Kraig got back we went and had some ice cream at a corner ice cream parlor. It had been there since 1919! I had peanut butter and chocolate swirled ice cream. It was really good. kraig had strawberry ice cream. This inspired us to come up with a new ice cream combo. We would combine my peanut butter ice cream with his strawberry ice cream and call it peanut butter and jelly! Kraig tested it out and said it did taste like a PBJ sandwich. Since I refuse to eat a PBJ- I think that this ice cream would be nasty, but I know there would be plenty of kids wanting to buy it!
Once we got back to Chesapeake- we went out to dinner. Yes, we did that a little backwards. We went to the Silver Diner. It was modeled after a 1950s diner. The outside looked like shiny metal, and the inside had lots of neon with jukeboxes at every table. Our food was really, really good, and we picked and played oldies songs off of our jukebox! Tomorrow we will be heading back to Maryland but we will be visiting Jamestown on the way.
