Baltimore!

Baltimore's waterways

dolphin show!

We love, love, loved Baltimore! What a great city!
Today we went to Baltimore to visit the National Aquarium. It is located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, which is one of the nation's oldest seaports. The area is really beautiful. The buildings are situated on lots of little channels with lots of bridges and walkways. I really liked it. Kraig and I think that Baltimore is definitely one of the coolest cities we have visited so far. We would definitely like to go back for a longer stay. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe which was also situated right on the water.
After that, we went to the aquarium. It was a really beautiful place. The building seemed much more artsy than functional. It was nice because there was not an overwhelming number of fish and things to look at- just enough. We saw a jellyfish exhibit which showed many different kinds of jellies. Jellyfish have also been around since before the dinosaurs! We saw some blue blubber jellies- which were kind of cool and are from Australia. We also saw a bunch of moon jellies. The aquarium exhibit actually said that they are virtually harmless! Ha! Maybe the curator should see my scarred shoulder- that's all I'm saying.
We also watched the dolphin show. We actually saw the dolphins do some things that we have never seen before- such as tossing balls back and forth between themselves and the trainers. We saw them toss rings and jump over giant balls. We also learned that dolphins are one of few animals that can recognize themselves in a mirror.
Like I said, the aquarium was beautiful. It had five floors of exhibits that you passed through while going up and then when descending down you went through a giant aquarium of reef fish and then a shark tank. We also saw some giant rays and a 3 flippered Green Sea Turtle. The turtle was full-sized and doing just fine with the three flippers.. good to see for my little turtles back in Jupiter, FL.
We had a really great day!
