surfing!!!

Kraig and I went surfing today at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, and my dad was there as the photographer. Kraig and I were a little worried that the water was going to be cold, but we braved it and were pleasantly surprised! It was great even without a wetsuit. It was a beautiful, warm and sunny day, and the water was perfectly blue. The only downside was that we were only able to rent one foam board and we had to rent one fiberglass board. Kraig used the fiberglass one, and it was much harder to ride than the foam one. I tried a few times on that board, and I could not do it at all. However, I did great with my foam one! I got up on the first wave that I tried! I was so excited. I even caught a few of the bigger ones. Trust me though, I had my share of wipe-outs into the shallow water. It didn't hurt though. What did hurt was when my surfboard knocked me in the chin and whacked me in the chest! There were tons of surfers in the water stealing our waves- but I still had fun. I love being out there on the water, I even love getting knocked around by the waves :) I was just so happy to finally be out there. I am definitely going back soon.
It was nice to go surfing with Kraig today because this will be his last day here in Florida. He will be coming back to MI to work in Kalamazoo. I will miss him- but I do not blame him for going back. He was so bored here since he could not find a job. If I were him, I would have worked on becoming a surf bum. He just does not have his priorities straight!
