nothing major to report

Let's see... I need to catch this thing up. Kraig and I have not been doing too much. It is really pretty and really warm here, but there is not much to do in the local area. Anything that I have found to do that sounds fun is a few hours away.
Last week we drove around Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce. We originally went to find manatees. There is a manatee observation deck near a power plant in Fort Pierce. In the winter, manatees will flock to the channels around power plants because the water is warmer there. Unfortunately, there were no manatees on the day that we went and there probably rarely are any there. It seems that the power plant had been closed down, so the draw for the manatees to come there is also gone. We got a brochure talking about different places to see manatees in the area and we drove around to a few of them to try our luck. No manatee sightings yet.
We have done quite a bit of shopping. We have walked around all of the little shops in downtown Stuart, gone to the Treasure Coast Mall, and been to the outlet mall in Vero Beach.
We ended up at the outlet mall this last Sunday by accident. We were trying to go to a sea turtle rehab facility, but I accidentally drove us to the wrong beach in the opposite direction! So, we went shopping instead. Hopefully, we will be able to get to the sea turtles sooner rather than later. I think I may volunteer there- we shall see.
Some of our upcoming plans are... surfing, going to the Kennedy Space Center to see a shuttle launch, going to the Delray Beach garlic festival, and going to Miami and the Florida keys for my birthday at the end of February.
