Happy Solstice everyone! Today is the official first day of summer, and in the Fremont neighborhood in Seattle, they have a giant street fair and parade. This is a very eclectic/artsy area of Seattle.. and let's just say- all of the eclectic/artsy people in the area come out in droves to celebrate this day!
There was a lot of frolicking and flower waving going on! The fair celebrates freedom, spirit, happiness and being uninhibited. The most famous part of the fair is the parade. In the parade, there are hundreds of people that ride bikes... naked! They are completely naked, but paint their bodies to look like they have clothes. I am sure it is some kind of metaphor or something.
We made it to the parade late because all of the buses we tried to use to get there were full- so we missed the bikers... too bad we missed it, because Kraig was really excited about this. We did see some naked people though... just walkin around... and he did get to see a topless girl dancing a jig later. Anyways, it was a very interesting affair- to say the least!
