Well, this last weekend-on the 11th to be exact, we tried to go whale watching. Kraig had to work on Saturday, so after he got home we went north to Mount Vernon, WA. We drove around the countryside, saw a field of daffodils, and had some dinner. At the Best Western that we stayed at, they had free potato chips in the lobby! They also gave out free luggage tags! The next day, we drove a little farther north to Anacortes, WA. There we went on a whale watching cruise around the San Juan islands. The islands seemed beautiful! We were trying to catch a glimpse of some of the resident pods of orcas which live there. Unfortunately, the picture of the orca "killer whale" which I posted, is the closest that we came to seeing them! On a positive note, the picture is of the free antenna ball that they gave us when we signed up for the trip!
Anyways, at first it was really fun on the boat.. but it was very cold. We stayed outside on the deck for about an hour and a half, but then we got frozen. We bought hot chocolates, but we were still chilled to the bone. Being in the warm cabin- made us sleepy, and 5.5 hours of no whales was a long 5.5 hours!
They did give us a pass to come back and hopefully see the whales since we did not get to this time. We must be pretty unlucky because this company usually has a 97% success rate in sightings! We are probably going to go back later in June because there is also going to be a pirate festival going on at the same time! I am so dressing like a pirate.
