This weekend, Kraig and I took a trip to Monterey, CA. It was about a 7 hour drive north. We drove on Highway 1. It was very curvy, and followed every nook and cranny of the coast. There was a lot to see on the way up. We saw a beach full of elephant seals with their pups! We even saw them swimming in the ocean! It was a pretty rainy and windy weekend, but it made for some huge waves coming in off of the ocean! We really enjoyed the scenery. Up top, is a picture of Kraig- he just could not hold it any longer and found some random port-a-john on the side of the road! Then we got to Monterey, which was a really neat town that was touristy, but kind of an old town too. We ate at a place called Hulas, were we tried sweet potato fries. They were good! Then we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I have always wanted to go there, and it was really fun! It is built inside of an old fish cannery, and when they put the aquarium in, they still made it look like a factory/warehouse on the inside. A few weeks ago, they had a Great White Shark there! They rescued it, fixed it up, and put it back in the ocean on Feb 5, so we just missed it. We were both kinda bummed about that. Oh well, we also saw jellyfish.... that couldn't sting us because they were behind glass! phew.. (if you don't know why I wrote that, ask me and I will give you more details) There were also 2 giant octopi there! They were awesome, and they are supposedly some of the smartest creatures in the world. We also took a picture of a school of sardines. Kraig and I both rate the school of sardines as our fav in the aquarium. It is just so cool how they move! There were also otters! I guess Central CA is all into otters, you can donate money to them on your taxes! They were so cute though. We learned that otters have the densest fur of all mammals, and that they put oxygen bubbles into their fur to help waterproof themselves. We ate out again that night after checking into a hotel. I LOVE EATING OUT! The next day we were going to go whale watching in the marine sanctuary, but the weather and water were too bad to take the boats out. Oh well. So we drove home and stopped in a place called Pismo Beach to have lunch and look around, Then we did some more driving down the coastline from Malibu to Santa Monica. The houses there are gorgeous and pretty much sitting on stilts out over the water! There was also this campgound 50 feet away from the water where you live in campers! I think we should do that for one assignment- it would probably get old pretty fast- but seriously! how awesome to live that close to the ocean! All in all it was a fun weekend for the both of us. Too bad, I am an OLD woman now.

Alright, I'll bite. What are the details with you and the jellyfish?
Heehee thanks. Well on our honeymoon in Bermuda, we were on a snorkeling trip. There were jellyfish everywhere. One minute you would be swimming in clear water and the next minute, you would be surrounded by "moon jellies" Kraig and I probably got stung at least 20 times each, but we were like, we spent so much money on this, we are not getting out of the water! So once we got out my skin reacted to a couple of the stings. My arm turned red and spotty and I still have this sweet scar on my shoulder which remids me of tentacles!
